The Museum of Discovery & Science began as a project for the Junior League, which opened it up in 1977. The museum has gone through many renovations to keep up with changes over time- including becoming an art center where you can learn about different cultures or history.

More than 450k people visit the Museum of Discovery and Science annually. It has served as a great educational resource for more than 8 million students since opening its doors in 1992, with an annual student population that currently sits at 90 thousand.

Museum of Discovery & Science features 150,000 square feet of dynamic science exhibits in a beautiful downtown Fort Lauderdale location. The Great Gravity Clock stands at 52 feet tall as one example—it’s also home to our signature exhibit. This unique timepiece has been showcased all over the world since it opened over 25 years ago; there are only three like them on this planet: two here locally (one quarter million more than expected) and abroad somewhere else.
